What is Google AdChoices ?

“AdChoices” to replace “i” and “Ads by Google” on Google Ads

▶ Google AdSense has “i” and “Ads by Google” label in the bottom corner of the ad.

▶ “i” and “Ads by Google” will be replaced by “AdChoices” .

▶ The change is a support for cross-industry initiative.

▶ A click on “AdChoices” will provide a link to the Ads Preferences Manager, where you can control the types of interest-based ads you see.

Google AdSense needs no introduction. Millions of websites run the ads served by Google. Every one using the internet would have noticed their ads one or the other time on the internet.

“i” and “Ads by Google” :

If you are one such users, you would have probably noticed that Google ads have a special “i” icon that expands to an “Ads by Google” label in the bottom corner of the ad when you move the cursor over it.

If you click this label, then you are taken to a page where you learn more about online advertising and the ads you have seen.

Why is this change ?

Google wants its users to have a clear notion about the ads they see. It wants the users to see ads of their choice. This way Google wants to increase transparency in the system.

So, what is the change ?

Clearly, the images above speak for themselves.
The “i” and “Ads by Google” label will change into a new icon similar to this “▶” that expands to an “AdChoices” label. These notifications were developed by the online advertising industry’s Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising to more proactively give users notice and choice about the ads they see.

A support for this cross-industry initiative :

With the new change, Google wants to show its support for this cross-industry initiative, and to increase its users’ understanding about ad choices through adoption of an icon they’ll see on ads across the web.
Google also hopes to see others in the industry adopt a similar change to their ads.

When…..?
Google has roll-out these changes now to English-language publisher sites and later also wants to expand it to other language sites.

Next…..
A click on “AdChoices” label will take to a page where you can learn more about online advertising and the ads they’ve just seen.

It will also provide a link to the Ads Preferences Manager, where you can control the types of interest-based ads you see.
Will this affect the AdSense Publishers ?

Google has already tested and concluded saying that this new icon and label should not have any effect on ad performance and should not impact the earnings of the publishers.

However, if you really feel the diffrence. Please do share it here and help other AdSense Publishers learn more on it.
So, whats your say on “AdChoices” to replace “i” and “Ads by Google” on Google Ads ?
